My Service Canada Account

To access My Service Canada Account, you must provide certain pieces of personal information on the “Validating Your Identity” page.

Simply fill in the required information and select “Login” at the bottom of that page. To access Service Canada Account, each data element that you provide on the screen must match the information contained in our records. Additional information on the questions that are asked is provided below.

Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Please enter all nine digits as they appear on your Social Insurance Number card, with no spaces or hyphens.

The Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a nine-digit number used in the administration of various Canadian government programs.

Register using your Birth Registration Number

The Birth Registration Number is issued by a Canadian province or territory and can be up to 13 digits. Please enter the number as it appears on your Canadian birth certificate, with no spaces or hyphens (-).

Register using Unique Client Identifier (UCI)

The Unique Client Identifier is issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and can be up to 10 digits. It is also known as a client identification (client ID) number. Please enter the number as it appears on your IRCC documents, with no spaces or hyphens (-).

Date of Birth

The year, month and day of birth fields are mandatory. The month and day of birth must be selected from the drop-down lists provided, and the year of birth must contain four digits. For example, if you were born in 1947, please enter 1947 rather than 47.

Parents’ Family Name at Birth

Please enter only one of your parent’s last names as it was at the time of their birth.

Do not enter:

  • more than one of your parent’s last names; or
  • your parent’s married name, first name, middle name or date of birth.

Your parent may be a birth parent, adoptive parent, or legal guardian, as used in your Social Insurance Number application.

Personal Access Code

The personal access code (PAC) is used to help verify your identity when you register to My Service Canada Account. To obtain a PAC online, you need to send a request to Service Canada.

SIN Application Number

The SIN Application Number is a 12-character number that you receive once you submit your online SIN application. Please enter the number as it appears on your confirmation of SIN application.

Province or Territory

You must enter your province or territory by selecting from the drop-down list.

If you live outside of Canada, please select the last line of the drop-down list. For EI clients the Province/Territory must be where you reside.

Security Measures

We are committed to protecting your personal information. To improve privacy and security, you have to register for multi-factor authentication when you sign in to MSCA with a GCKey or your bank (Sign-in Partner). This new enhanced security measure helps to prevent unauthorized access to your account. Provincial digital ID users don't need to register.

Please make sure that you have entered the required information. Each piece of information is mandatory.

Error messages may appear above the “Validating Your Identity” area inside a yellow box after you have selected “Login”. These messages will guide you in correcting any errors with the login information you have entered.

If you wish to contact us for assistance, please note the error code that appears beside the error message or the screen ID that appears on the bottom right of the page. Each error code starts with a letter and is followed by a number, for example: C111. Each screen ID consists of letters and number, for example SBT F 001.

The Record of Employment on the Web (ROE Web)

To access ROE Web, you must provide certain pieces of information in order for us to validate your identity associated with the organization registered to use ROE Web.

Simply fill in the required information and select Submit at the bottom of the final page. To access your ROE Web account, each data element that you provide on the screen must match the information contained in our records.

User Reference Number

Please provide your User Reference Number. Your User Reference Number is composed of 3 alpha characters followed by 12 numeric characters and was given to you when you created/updated your ROE Web professional profile information.

Security Questions and Answers

Please provide the answers to your Security Questions. You would have selected these Security Questions and answers for it when you created/updated your ROE Web professional profile information.

Grants and Contributions Online Services (GCOS)

To access GCOS, you must provide certain pieces of information in order for us to validate your identity associated with GCOS.

Simply fill in the required information and select Submit at the bottom of the final page. To access your GCOS account, each data element that you provide on the screen must match the information contained in our records.

User Reference Number

Please provide your User Reference Number. Your User Reference Number is composed of 3 alpha characters followed by 12 numeric characters and was given to you when you created/updated your GCOS user profile information.

Security Questions and Answers

Please provide the answers to your Security Questions. You would have selected these Security Questions and answers when you created/updated your GCOS user profile information.

The Labour Electronic Access Forms (LEAF)

To access LEAF, you must provide certain pieces of information in order for us to validate your identity associated with the organization registered to use LEAF.

Simply fill in the required information and select Submit at the bottom of the final page. To access your LEAF account, each data element that you provide on the screen must match the information contained in our records.

National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) Online Account

NSLSC Online Account

To access the NSLSC Online Account, you must provide certain pieces of personal information on the “Validating Your Identity” page.

Simply fill in the required information and select “Login” at the bottom of that page. To access the NSLSC Online Account, each data element that you provide on the screen must match the information contained in our records. Additional information on the questions that are asked is provided below.

Master Student Financial Assistance (MSFAA) Number

Please enter all 10 digits, including any leading zeros, of your MSFAA number in this field.

This number is an additional piece of information that is asked in order to ensure the confidentiality of your personal information.

The MSFAA number is provided to you by the province/territory to which you applied for funding. If for some reason you did not receive this number, please contact your province/territory for more information.
