Privacy notice

The information you provide, including Social Insurance Number (SIN) or Birth Registration Number or Unique Client Identifier, is used as part of registration and client authentication for My Service Canada Account (MSCA). The personal information you provide is administered, collected, used and disclosed in accordance with:

  1. Canada Pension Plan
  2. Old Age Security Act
  3. Employment Insurance Act
  4. Apprentice Loan Act

Your information will be shared with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) if you access your CRA My Account from MSCA. The information you provide will be used to send you notifications if you subscribe to the “Alert Me” service. The information may be used or shared for policy analysis, research, and evaluation. For these specific purposes, the information will never be used by Service Canada to make decisions that directly affect you.

The phone number (and country) you provide will be used to confirm your identity if you register for multi-factor authentication with SMS or voice message. To do so, that phone number will be shared with a third party. They will send you a security code for authentication.

Your personal information is administered in accordance with the Department of Employment and Social Development Act, Privacy Act and other applicable laws. You have the right to the protection of, access to, and correction of your information, described in the Personal Information Banks:

  1. Social Insurance Number Registry (ESDC PPU 390)
  2. My Service Canada Account (ESDC PPU 680)
  3. Canada Apprentice Loans (ESDC PPU 709)

If you are not satisfied with Service Canada’s response to your privacy, you have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada about the handling of your information.

Provincial digital ID – Consent

By clicking "I agree", you consent to the collection of your provincial digital ID information by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) or the Canada Employment Insurance Commission (CEIC) to access MSCA. This information includes, but is not limited to your:

  1. first name
  2. last name
  3. date of birth
  4. province of residence

If you do not consent, you will not be able to access MSCA with your provincial digital ID, but can still access it using GCKey or Sign-in Partner as your credential. You can withdraw your consent by replacing your provincial digital ID with GCKey or Sign-in Partner before accessing MSCA.

System requirements

  1. You must have cookies enabled in your browser
  2. You may have technical difficulties if you bookmark MSCA Web pages
  3. You must use a compatible Web browser:
    1. Mozilla Firefox (version 68 or newer)
    2. Safari (version 13.1.2 or newer)
    3. Google Chrome (version 84 or newer)
    4. Microsoft Edge (version 85 or newer)
  4. You must have JavaScript enabled to access MSCA. If you have technical difficulties accessing MSCA, make sure to update your JavaScript, Web browser and/or settings
  5. MSCA does not use pop-up windows to ask for information, such as SIN, bank account, mortgage details or credit card numbers

Terms and conditions of use

Your registration and use of the MSCA portal are subject to the following terms and conditions in addition to such other requirement as may be posted from time to time elsewhere on this site.

For the purposes of these terms and conditions:

  1. “ESDC” means His Majesty the King in Right of Canada as represented by the Minister of Employment and Social Development Canada
  2. “CEIC” means the Canada Employment Insurance Commission
  1. Your credentials
    1. You understand and agree that your credentials are unique to you. You must not disclose and no one else has or may use your credentials except as permitted by, as applicable, these terms and conditions
    2. You are responsible and accountable for your credentials
    3. You are responsible, accountable and liable for all use and misuse of your credentials
    4. You must protect the confidentiality of your credentials
    5. You must not disclose your access code to anyone
    6. When accessing MSCA, you certify every time you submit your own credentials and that:
      1. you have not disclosed your credentials to anyone except as permitted by, as applicable, these terms and conditions, and
      2. there has been no unauthorized access to or disclosure of your credentials
    7. If you suspect your credentials have been used or disclosed without your authorization, you must inform ESDC right away by email: EDSC.Soutient.SCE.INA-ECAS.RNA.Support.ESDC@servicecanada.gc.ca
    8. If you use a shared or public computer, we recommend that you:
      1. don’t choose to have your credentials remembered by your Web browser
      2. sign out of your account every time you leave the computer, and
      3. clear your browser’s cache and close your browser after your online session
  2. Your use of MSCA
    1. You are responsible, accountable and liable for all use and misuse of your MSCA
    2. You must use the services provided via MSCA only for the purposes for which they are offered and for no other purpose including improper or illegal activity
    3. You must not use MSCA on behalf of anyone else and you must not allow anyone else to use your MSCA
    4. You must access and use MSCA only as yourself
    5. Your registered trustee, guardian, or other legal representative may only act on your behalf in person at a Service Canada Office, by mail or by phone. Your legal representative is not authorized to act on your behalf online through MSCA
    6. You understand and agree that your access to MSCA may be suspended or cancelled without notice if ESDC or the CEIC suspects that you have not complied with these terms and conditions
    7. You certify that all information provided to ESDC or the CEIC via MSCA is true, accurate, current and complete
    8. If you withdraw your agreement to any of the terms and conditions, you must stop using MSCA and notify ESDC by email: EDSC.Soutient.SCE.INA-ECAS.RNA.Support.ESDC@servicecanada.gc.ca
  3. Disclaimers
    1. You understand and agree that ESDC and the CEIC provide the MSCA “as is”, “as available” and “as modified from time to time”, with no representation, warranty or guarantee, implied or express, of any kind whatsoever. You also understand and agree that ESDC and the CEIC disclaim any and all liability for any loss, damage or injury arising from or related to:
      1. any matters or factors outside of its control, including the availability or unavailability of the internet, or telecommunications or other infrastructure systems, or for any restriction, delay, malfunction or unavailability of the MSCA service
      2. the unavailability of any site that can be accessed through a transfer link from the MSCA
      3. any transfer of information to ESDC
      4. the non-acceptance of information provided through MSCA
      5. any non-compliance with these terms and conditions
  4. Changes to these terms and conditions
    1. ESDC and the CEIC may change these terms and conditions at any time. The change will be effective right away. You will need to accept the updated terms and conditions to access MSCA once posted online
  5. Other
    1. These terms and conditions will be governed, interpreted and construed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada without reference to conflict of law rules

By clicking “I agree”, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions and acknowledge the privacy notice and the consent above. If you do not agree, do not click “I agree”, and do not register for or access MSCA. You may still access the services provided by MSCA through other channels by contacting us.

When you select I agree, you will temporarily leave the Government of Canada website to use your provincial digital ID. This page is only available in English.
